The Seed and The Sun
A story of love, longing, and the many ways a family begins.
The Book
About the Book
The Seed and The Sun is a tender, beautifully illustrated story for young children who have come into the world through donor conception. Written with warmth and honesty, it gently introduces the idea that families are made in many different ways — all of them rooted in love.
Through the metaphor of a seed reaching toward the sun, the book helps children understand their own unique beginning in a way that feels natural, safe, and full of wonder.
Why I Wrote It
After our own journey through azoospermia and donor IVF, I searched for a book I could read to our child — one that told the truth with gentleness, and celebrated the love that brought them here. I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, so I wrote it.
What It's For
This book is for donor-conceived children and the families who love them. It is a starting point for honest, open conversations — a way to say, from the very beginning: your story is beautiful, and you are deeply wanted.
What Inspired Me
The illustrations in this book were inspired by the quiet magic of nature — seeds that carry so much potential, sunlight that nurtures growth, and the extraordinary ordinary miracle of new life. Every family's journey is different. Every seed finds its sun.
